It also holds great scientific interest as the habitat of species such as the dugong (‘sea cow') and the large green turtle, which are threatened with extinction.”Unfortunately, an ecosystem as complex as the Great Barrier Reef is also vulnerable to a host of threats, whether it's fishing, oil spills, or climate change.
