Taking seriously Pope John Paul II's statement that "[t]he Christian family constitutes a specific revelation and realization of ecclesial communion, and for this reason too it can and should be called 'the domestic Church'", this book explores the lived reality of the Domestic Church from the perspective of that subset known as interchurch families. Approaching the issue both experientially and theologically, it delves into what these families reveal and realize of communion, extrapolating the findings to show what they have to say to the Church. In the process, this book gives evidence that interchurch families, far from being a problem, form a gift to their churches for the unity of the Church. Thomas Knieps-Port le Roi is Professor at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium, and the coordinator of the Interchurch Families International Network. Ray Temmerman, STM, is President of the Canadian Catholic Organization for Development & Peace and administers the website and international discussion group of the Interchurch Families International Network.
