商品簡介
Germany was the colonial power in the territory that became the African nation of Namibia. Colonial policies in Namibia were brutal, a hundred years later the relationship between the two countries is charged, and there is no agreement about how to describe the past. This book looks at contemporary debates about the past, especially the genocide of 1904-08. Part one looks at the burden of the past, part two at community, commemoration, and performance, and part three at the challenge of postcolonial reconciliation. A glossary of relevant German and Namibian language terms is included. The book was written by a German political sociologist, published by the University of Namibia Press, and is distributed in the US by African Books Collective.
