商品簡介
Contributors in drama and theater studies, mainly in the UK, consider the body's role in the creation and dissemination of cultural memory. The ten essays are informed by three strands of thought that have had special impact on the modern study of the body in performance: structuralism and structural anthropology, the early work of ethnologist Pierre Bourdieu, and the writing of Michel Foucault. Some specific topics examined include Rachel Rosenthal's performances of diasporic cultural memory, puppets and embodiment, resisting the homogenization of cultural memory attached to material sites, and embodiment of memory in Akram Khan Company's Bahok. Counsell teaches theater studies and performing arts at London Metropolitan University. Mock is a reader in performance at the University of Plymouth, UK.
