商品簡介
Sajó (legal studies, Central European U., Hungary) presents revised editions of 15 papers first presented at a 2002 conference on "The Individual v. the State" conference, hosted by Sajó's academic department. Approaching the topic from a variety of perspectives, the papers explore the problematics of the juridicalization of universal human rights. Papers first explore challenges to the universalization of human rights within the context of their application and their foundations, addressing normative questions, the limits of universality, individual vs. collective rights, and other topics. Others look at the practical difficulties of implementation of universal human rights through court-centered positive law. Three final chapters explore a number of these topics in particular reference to the case of Iran. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
