There are two dimensions to the relationship between climate and how buildings are wrapped. One is that continuing climate change means the envelopes must be able to deal with a wider range of and more severe weather conditions. The other is that the envelopes must contribute significantly to reducing the building's energy consumption and so its contribution to climate change. Architects specializing in facades explain such approaches as corrugated glass to improve the structural resistance of glass, climate related optimized facade technologies, and requirements for CO2 neutral buildings and cities from microclimate to the facade.
