Principles And Modern Applications Of Mass Transfer Operations, Third Edition

This textbook is designed for courses in mass transfer operations, a staple in any chemical engineering curriculum. The third edition is updates the 2^nd edition to discuss many developing topics in more depth in mass transfer operations, especially in the biological engineering area. A difference between the first two editions and the proposed third edition is the adoption in the latter of PTC Mathcad Prime most recent version, which is quite different from previous versions of Mathcad. It will also cover in more detail first phase equilibrium since distillation calculations are completely dependent on this principle. The new edition will also have a stronger emphasis on membrane separations, chromatography and other adsorptive processes, ion exchange, electrophoresis, and multistage batch distillation, differential transport equations, and boundary-layers.

Jaime Benítez taught mass transfer operations for chemical engineers for 35 years. He earned his PhD in Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1976. He is a retired professor of the Chemical Engineering Department, University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez.
