The book focuses on policy issues around urban water reuse for potable use in cities in the developed and the developing world. Topics analysed include legal and regulatory frameworks, health and environment considerations, technological development and public perceptions, participation and acceptance. Also discussed are the history of water reuse, reliability, communication with the public, the evolution of global trends in the face of water scarcity, developments in science and technology, and the evolution of social perceptions. The authors concur on the enormous potential of reused water as a safe and reliable source of clean water that has the potential to enhance urban resilience. This book was originally published as a special issue of the International Journal of Water Resources Development.
Cecilia Tortajada is a senior research fellow at the Institute of Water Policy, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.
Choon Nam Ong is the Director of the NUS Environmental Research Institute (NERI) and a professor at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, both National University of Singapore.
