As a result of the demands of the War, women entered the workplace in huge numbers and took up a diverse range of professions, including air-raid wardens, signalers, electricians, and drivers as well as roles in the Navy, Air Force, and territorial services.

作者簡介
Arthur Wauters (1890–1960) was a Belgian socialist politician. He was Minister for Labour World War II, and in October 1940 he became a member of the Belgian government-in-exile in London. He wrote a number of pamphlets, including A Belgian Observes the War Effort in Britain.
