Young People's Literacies in the Digital Age ― Continuities, Conflicts and Contradictions in Practice

This book explores the influence of the coded architectures of digital platforms, together with the social factors in which digital practices are embedded, to map out the complex ways that young people experience the digital context. Focusing on the notion of critical digital literacies, it tackles a number of key questions, including: How can digital media enhance or constrain identity representation and communication? What are young people’s critical understandings of digital media, how did they develop them, and in whose interests do they work? Drawing on a variety of sociocultural and crucial perspectives, this book provides a unique perspective on young people’s digital lives.
