This book will provide an overview of the rehabilitation engineering field, including key concepts that are required to provide a solid foundation about the discipline. It willl present these concepts through a mix of basic and applied knowledge from rehabilitation engineering research and practice. It's written as an introductory text in order to provide access to the field by those without previous experience or background in the field.These concepts will include those related to engineering and health that are necessary to understand the application of rehabilitation engineering to support human function.
作者簡介
Alex Mihailidis, Ph.D., P. Eng, is the Barbara G. Stymiest Research Chair in Rehabilitation Technology at the University of Toronto and Toronto Rehabilitation Institute. He is also the Scientific Director for the AGE-WELL Network for Centres of Excellence, which focuses on the development of new technologies and services for older adults. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy (U of T) and the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering (U of T), with a cross appointment in the Department of Computer Science (U of T). He has been conducting research in the field of pervasive computing and intelligent systems in health for past 15 years, having published over 150 journal papers, conference papers and abstracts in the field. He is also very active in the rehabilitation engineering profession, currently as Immediate Past-President for RESNA (Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America). He was named a Fellow of RESNA in 2014.
Roger Smith, MD, Ph.D., is Director of the Rehabilitation Research Design and Disability Center at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His research has focused on the measurement of interventions for people with disabilities and populations of all ages, particularly in the domains, outcomes of assistive technologies, training, and accessible environments. Dr. Smith has also taught courses at the graduate level in assistive technologies and rehabilitation.
