Rodney Sugden has no recollection of the event himself, but by all accounts it happened in Saginaw, Michigan on a Saturday afternoon in April 1949. He was born with determination and a strong will, characteristics that served him well when he enlisted in the Army during the Vietnam War, where he spent two years in Germany and six months as a supply sergeant at Fort Hood in Texas. After returning to civilian life, Sugden attended college for a year, where he studed Advertising and Marketing. Living with Attention Deficit Disorder was at times humiliating and even agonizing, but a strong work ethic balanced it out. He worked in sales for more than forty years. Health issues slowed him down but didn’t stop him. But in April 2017, a few days before his birthday, he faced his third major surgery in three years. It revealed that he had suffered a few mini-strokes, which resulted in a loss of cognitive function that made him feel like a blank slate. But rather than feeling sorry for himself, Sugden saw it as an opportunity to exercise his brain in ways he never had before. He discovered that he loved writing, and Bobby Turnbull and the Identical Twins is the result. Rodney Sugden is currently working on his next novel.
