The Routledge Handbook of Love in Philosophy

Love, a mainstay of philosophical investigation since antiquity, has witnessed a recent resurgence of interest from a diverse range of philosophers. The Routledge Handbook of Love in Philosophy encompasses this diversity, offering 45 newly written chapters, exploring the ethics, politics, aesthetics, epistemology, and metaphysics of love. The Handbook covers traditional subjects, like "Love in Marriage" and "Love and Friendship", but it also philosophically investigates changing social conceptions and expressions of love, like "Love and Music," "Love and Race," and "Love and Animals." In addition, the book includes a general introduction, as well as shorter introductions for all eight sections, and a final bibliography. The resulting volume will appeal to students and researchers for many years to come.
