Erasure, are a synthpop duo, comprising singer / songwriter Andy Bell with keyboardist / songwriter Vince Clarke that formed in London as part of the club scene during 1985. Their debut single was "Who Needs Love Like That", the duo establishing themselves on the UK Singles Chart with their 4th single, "Sometimes", becoming one of the most successful acts of the late '80s to mid-'90s. Erasure had 24 successive UK Top 40 hits from 1986 - 2007, with 34 of their 37 chart-eligible singles and EPs having made the UK Top 40 by 2009, with 17 making the Top 10. Erasure won the Brit Award for Best British Group in 1989. Their highest charting US single on the Billboard Hot 100 was "Chains of Love" during 1988, which hit #12, also having had US Top 20 entries with the songs "A Little Respect", and "Always".
