That negative self-esteem caused her to develop a negative mindset and it followed her into adulthood. When Tyia was around other people, she was her happy, quiet self. But when she was alone, behind closed door, she would cry. Tears of sadness would roll down at every single negative thought that entered her mind, "Why are you so ugly?", "No boy is gonna wanna date you looking like this.", "No point in making friends, cause you'll be the ugly friend.", "Why Me?!".One day, a lightbulb switched! Tyia realized she was tired of having a negative self-image. It's draining! She came across the scripture Psalms 139:14 "...i am fearfully and wonderfully made...". Tyia started to speak this scripture over her life to combat all those negative thoughts. One night, Tyia decided to write an affirmation poem for herself and she titled it, "A Beautiful, Wonderful Me". Tyia realized that there might be young girls who are struggling with their self-esteem just like her. So she decided to turn her affirmation into a book for young girls! Tyia believes that words have power and she wants to inspire young girls to use their words for good!NOTES FROM THE AUTHORIt's a journey to maintain a positive sense of self. There are times where I still struggle and those negative thoughts creep in. However, it's a bit easier to manage when I start remembering all the great things about me. Being truly beautiful starts from within. It's about self-love, positivity, showing kindness, being fearless, & more!
