Management of Regional Economy: Theoretical and Applied Approach

Russian regions are characterized by significant territorial remoteness from the center and, therefore, cannot function effectively in the market space under the influence of the federal authorities alone. In this connection it seems actual to study the problem of state regulation of regional development both in the general theoretical aspect and in applied one - as applied to one of the regions of Russia at the present stage of its development. This paper is devoted to the consideration of these issues. The Perm Territory, which is one of the most important subjects of the Russian Federation, is chosen as the object of this research. The author's research is based on the concept of the region as an open economy. When studying the economic development of the region, the paradigms "region-quasi-state" and "region-quasi-corporation" are applied. In this connection the author considers the regional economy as synthesis of macro- and microeconomics in relation to one of the levels of the hierarchical structure of the global economy - the region.The managerial approach is used in consideration of the state management of the regional economy.
