商品簡介
As the first comprehensive publication on the artist's work, this book elucidates the multi-facetted explorations of Haitian Canadian artist Manuel Mathieu. The publication focuses on how Haiti has informed a large body of work produced by Mathieu over the past few years. Positioned at the fault lines of modern political and environmental crises, Haiti epitomizes a global longing for freedom, and grassroots resistance to imperialist and capitalist exploits. At the center of this body of work is an examination of the long-lasting repercussions of Haiti's pioneering revolt against slavery and its quest for self-determination, which have led in more recent decades to embroiling the nation in the intrigues of the Cold War.
