The epistle of James was written by James, the half-brother of the Lord Jesus. The epistle is an integral portion of the inspired Word of God.

The epistle focuses on the practical aspects of Christian conduct. It tells how faith works in everyday life. The epistle challenges a Christian to "Let his light shine before men" in his daily walk with the Lord (Mat. 5:16).

Vital Word Studies in the Epistle of James deals with the original Greek text in such a way that the English reader will delight in seeing his heart and soul are built up in the faith by this exposition. Words of each verse are explained, and a translation is given to throw light on each verse.

About the Author

Saved at fifteen, John Lineberry began to honor and serve the Lord. He answered the call of the Lord for full-time commitment to a pastoral ministry lasting fifty-eight years.

Upon returning from World War II, having served in George Patton's 3rd Army in Germany, Lineberry prepared himself for ministry by attending Mars Hill College, Moody Bible Institute, Piedmont Bible College, McKendree Liberal Arts College, and Southern Illinois University. He holds a BA and MS. He went on to serve in Baptist churches over fifty-eight years in Illinois; West Virginia; Long Island, New York; and Florida.

Lineberry's previous works include Salvation is of the Lord, Vital Word Studies in I & II Thessalonians, That We May Have Fellowship, 1st John, The Parable of the Empty Pulpit. His sermon and articles have appeared in Christian magazines and journals. He has written for the Gospel Herald and Sunday School Times for forty-one years.

Now retired, he resides in Des Moines, Iowa, with his daughter and son-in-law.
