Changing the Dynamics and Impact of Innovation Management: A Systems Approach and the ISO Standard

Innovation management is at a crossroad or tipping point. If it remains focused on the process level, the professionalisation of this field will be difficult to attain. Adopting a systems approach to innovation capability development and supporting organisational credibility for innovation management roles provides the foundation for this field to be globally recognised in a similar way as quality management and project management have been in the past. This is the decade for innovation management to take off, the new ISO Innovation Management System (IMS) Standard (ISO 56002) and an ISPIM-led global Body of Knowledge (Bok) will enable this.
