THANK YOU's best ever Birthday: The Nurchies

The 'Nurchies' picture books feature three dynamic characters, PLEASE, THANK YOU and SORRY, sure to fire kids' imaginations at story time. This story, the second episode in a series of three books, begins with THANK YOU waking up to the sound of Birthday cards dropping through her letterbox. With much enthusiasm and excitement she decides to celebrate the occasion with a delightful party for all her friends, preparing a table laden with all sorts of delicious goodies. Among the guests are PLEASE and SORRY, her best friends. Also invited are NO WAY, MINE and DON'T CARE, who simply won't behave well. Once the games are over the feast begins, finishing with THANK YOU blowing out the candles on her scrumptious Birthday cake while all the boys and girls cheer. Suddenly, an unexpected delivery brings much excitement. It's a fabulous shiny new bike from THANK YOU's dearest Aunt Lulu. But this poses a dilemma for little THANK YOU, who hasn't yet learned how to ride a bike! NO WAY, MINE and DON'T CARE have little faith in THANK YOU's ability, but PLEASE and SORRY are determined to see her succeed. After several failed attempts, she simply won't give up and then suddenly she's got it! Everyone claps and cheers as THANK YOU cycles up the garden path. And she had managed it thanks to a little help from her kind hearted friends, making it a truly wonderful birthday she'd never forget. These quirky and appealing characters make learning fun and therefore effective! Each character's name reflects the values and virtues associated with that word onto the character themselves. They almost become autological, with their personalities defined by their names. Thus: PLEASE is gentle. She's always patient and never gives out. THANK YOU is kind and very friendly. She's also thoughtful. SORRY is strong. He's caring and doesn't judge people. Whereas: NO WAY is stubborn. But he's kind of lonely. MINE is selfish. She argues a lot and she's grumpy too. DON'T CARE is lazy and he lets his friends down. The Nurchies originate from a message by Pope Francis on his visit to Ireland in 2018, noting that three words underused in today's world are "Please, Thank You and Sorry.' The stories will aim to bring fresh inspiration for parents when reading with their children.
