When Lezlea eloped with Anthony, a divorced attorney who joined her church, she had no idea how much her life would not go as planned. She was eager to please her new husband and didn't realize that she was being groomed to grant his wishes.
When they adopted a pre-schooler, a meaner and impatient Anthony emerged. Lezlea did not agree with how he disciplined their son. She tried to shield the boy from his father's wrath but was not always successful.
At several points over the next 20 years, Lezlea had reason to question staying married. Their marriage was "sealed" in a temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS-Mormons.) They were committed to stay married forever. Lezlea worried that she would break a covenant with God if she left her husband.
She ultimately came to realize that her husband was a narcissist but didn't know that she was codependent. Believing that all the family problems were her husband's fault, she fasted and prayed for God to "fix or replace" her husband. Her focus was on changing him when she should have focused on changing to become her best self so that she could attract the life she wanted.
When she was free to be herself, her journey of self-discovery took her through another marriage and divorce before she finally emerged One Woman Wiser.
