Fifty-Two Points on Purpose

"I've observed people diligently plan their futures and careers, some experiencing interruptions while others traveled uninterrupted. Some were able to reach their goals and remain content where they were, while others continued their search regardless of what they did or didn't achieve. Some carelessly threw away everything of value pursuing their goals, including people that cared dearly for them, while others were content to shelve their dreams and hold onto situations or relationships that were never intended to stop their forward momentum."

. . . several of these will describe experiences that many of us have either already had or will eventually have at some point in our lives. There are details of my own journey . . . the choices I had to make, the challenges they presented, and the successes and failures that resulted. These devotions will equip readers with (1) the discernment needed to steer clear of things that are avoidable, and (2) the courage and strength to process and/or proceed with the seasons and setbacks that are unavoidable.

"A deeper, much sweeter journey with the Lord would begin when setting time aside to read and study the entire Bible. I was forty-three years old and frustrated with my lack of scriptural understanding. I purposed to be up at 4:00 every morning whether I was working or not. There were no concerns with how long it would take to finish, only a desire to understand more of what was being said and done by those around me . . . at least initially . . ."

. . . some of these devotions will elaborate on the importance of a close relationship with God when desiring to be where He wants us to be, when He needs us to be there. I believe the biblical truths that have been shared about hearing the Lord will reveal (1) how easy it is to hear God, (2) times we've already heard Him (recognition), and (3) how strong His desire is to communicate with us.

"A trip to Romania didn't make sense to me initially. All I had was His still small voice and a strong desire to be used for His purposes. What I treasure most about this experience: (1) the opportunity to see His timing and ability bring everything together for the needs of the church globally, (2) an adventure that strengthened my ability to recognize and trust His voice, and (3) witnessing His ability to keep everything together here at home while pursuing things that concern Him abroad."

. . . a few will display God's faithfulness in all that we endeavor to do for His name's sake. I've learned that every time I've gone after the things that concern Him, I've been blessed in a variety of ways by His willingness and ability to perfect those things that are dear to me.
