My Purple Brick Road: A Faithful Battle with Early-onset Alzheimer's Disease

I've been living with early-onset Alzheimer's disease for over ten years. Soon after my diagnosis, God kindled within me a deep desire to do something special for people who were struggling with this disease. I longed to help them maintain their faith in spite of the daily challenges faced while living with early to mid-stage dementia. God placed on my heart the desire to write words of encouragement and coping strategies for people struggling with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia. This book was written over the course of four years so dates and times reflect the time at which it was written. It is truly unlike any other book written by an Alzheimer's patient because it is filled with humor, joy, honesty, and praise for a God who helps me every single day with the struggles brought on by early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Contained in the pages of this book are my coping strategies for many of the challenges brought on by Alzheimer's disease, thoughts about planning for the future, personal methods for fighting depression, ways to share the news of a diagnosis, and positive Scriptures to rekindle faith in a God who loves you dearly. You will discover living with this disease is not all doom and gloom as many books written about dementia tend to profess. I continue to have many joys in my life, lots of interesting activities to keep me busy, and a peace that surpasses all understanding as I deal with the daily demands of this disease. Remaining positive and faithful, coupled with a deep-rooted understanding that all things work to the good for those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes, have enriched my life while living with early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
