Our family name has it's roots in France, but our heritage is an aggregate of European cosmopolitan integration. My ancestors, while mostly white, gave us ties from Scandinavia to the Iberian peninsula; from the Scottish Highland, to the Ural mountains. I've traced our ancestry to Charlemagne and beyond, as well as to the warlords of early Ireland and those who fought and died for the honor of the dishonorable.
This volume is a compilation of a few of our family tales. Parts of each tale has been passed down, generation to generations, but much of the background information, for most of the stories, was garnered from genealogical research.
In total, there are nine tales, the first of which begins in France, where I introduce the Merovingian King Dagobert, who ruled the Franks in the seventh century; then continue to Scotland where we meet William Wallace, before transitioning to Ireland of the sixteenth century, meeting Prince Rufus O'Neill; the book then take a huge step forward as we move from Europe to the new world, aboard the Mayflower, on which multiple ancestors sailed. After colonizing Massachusetts we move to the far west, the US territory of Hawaii, in the mid-nineteenth century, where we learn a seafarer's tale; moving back to the Starts and the American west, we test a boy's imagination; the next tale that occurred during WWII, when the lad's father deployed to Europe and his wife elected to meet her new in-laws, in Colorado; the final story takes place during the middle of the 1950's, when the military family transfers from one coast to the other, and elect to visit the father's family in Colorado.
