This Book, Law and Community participation in Renewable Energy Projects in Nigeria' is a revised edition of an excerpt from my PhD Thesis submitted to the Post- graduate College in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy of the University of Ibadan - Nigeria. The book discuss the trend that led to different energy sector reforms with projections for energy mix without much success, a situation attributed to non-participation of the Local Communities in such energy mix projects. Previous studies have focused largely on the reforms, energy legal framework and renewable energy development with little attention paid to community participation in renewable energy projects and governance. This book was therefore designed to examine the possibility of developing a legal framework for effective participation of rural communities off the National Grid in renewable energy projects, with a view to enhancing local ownership and management of the projects. The existing legal framework with regards to renewable energy projects in Nigeria does not provide support for participation of rural communities. The Electricity Act 2023 should be amended.
