No amount of logic can outwit the persuasions of the heart, no matter how clever you might be.

BETHANY:

I am stuck in Searidge for one more year, counting the days until graduation. Having my best friend graduate already would've hurt less if I wasn't watching her be so much happier at college. Worst of all, Nadia's departure leaves me without a debate partner and at risk of being dropped by the debate team after three years. I love debate. . . enough to take a risk and partner up with a brand new face to East Shores-Wyatt Keene.

Wyatt has years of experience and promises not to step on my toes too much this season, our final season. However, nothing can prepare me for the rush of emotions or how his presence introduces a new world of speculation to my otherwise empty love life.

WYATT:

Nothing says "the universe hates me," like starting senior year at a new school because of my mom's husband. These days, I spend more time at school or on the back of my motorcycle than at home. Searidge Hills is a temporary stop before I head back east to Massachusetts, where I belong. But all my plans to keep a low profile at East Shores go straight through the shredder when I meet Bethany Edwards.

Sharp-tongued, high-strung Beth needs a new debate partner, for which I volunteer. I find the only person who understands the urge to leave it all behind and an unexpected ally in the theatrical drama of my home life. . . unless the rumors about our chemistry are more than speculation.
