The doll Billy finds himself living in a real house with other dolls, along with two old people and their dogs. Billy has known who he was from the time he was manufactured and insists on being allowed to be who he is. He finds himself living in a home where he is supported in this, but things don't always go his way. He doesn't like things to change, once he is used to them. He struggles with rules when things happen that make following the rules difficult, but he likes to be helpful and enjoys doing things for others. Billy likes to have fun, and he wants to stay out of trouble. Sometimes those two things conflict.
"Billy" is a graphic storybook for children. The illustrations are photos of the dolls in action, demonstrating what the reader is learning about in the stories. The photos tell the story, making it easier for beginning readers or children too young to read to understand the story. Each story is independent and ends with a "Reader's Challenge: " questions to give the reader something to think about, which allows the book to grow with the child.
