The Adventures of Lens and Pen is the third volume of Reza Allamehzadeh's memoirs. Although the title of his first book does not explicitly suggest a memoir, a large part of that work is in fact drawn from his personal observations and experiences in the Syndicate of Iranian Cinema Artists and Employees and the Association of Progressive Filmmakers during the early years after the establishment of the Islamic Republic. That book, titled The Mirage of Islamic Cinema in Iran, was published in 1991 by Navid Publishing in Germany. His second memoir, A Hand in Art, an Eye on Politics, is a direct account of his years in prison; it was released in 2012 by Ketab Corporation in Los Angeles. Now comes his third volume of memoirs, The Adventures of Lens and Pen-a collection of recollections from nearly six decades of Allamehzadeh's continuous work with the camera and the written word.
