(Warwick Music). Call to Arms is in the style of a fanfare and is to be played in a very free style. There are a number of contemporary trumpet techniques included within this short work. Although the theme is primarily heraldic in nature, it is also tinged with sadness, insecurity and fear... Many emotions that are evoked for the sake of war. Although this piece is only 60 seconds, it tells the story of being called up to war, love, fear and death in just a small number of bars. This evocative work ends with a nostalgic soft bugle call, reminiscent of 'The Last Post' and conveys the trumpeter playing over a misty graveyard where many soldiers have fallen. Darren Fellows
