Jame Retief of the Corps Diplomatique Terrestrienne (CDT) is a master of diplomacy, able not only to work his way through interstellar disagreements with either a velvet glove or a right hook, but also to slice his way through red tape with surgical precision. Born in a series of popular prose short stories and novels by Keith Laumer, Retief proved a natural for the comics page. Straight off of their run on their acclaimed original creation Dalgoda, Dennis Fujitake and Jan Strnad took six of Laumer's hilarious stories and brought them to visual life. Keith Laumer (1925-1993) Keith Laumer was a foundational voice in modern science fiction. A former U.S. diplomat, he drew on firsthand experience to transform bureaucracy into sharp interstellar satire in his iconic Retief series. He also created the influential Bolo and Imperium sagas-expansive futures exploring honor, duty, and the moral burdens of power.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, Dennis Fujitake was reprimanded in kindergarten for using too much drawing paper. Undeterred, he continues to this day to use too much drawing paper-for which people have willingly paid him, much to his bafflement. Ever the optimist, Dennis looks forward to living another 75 years.
Jan Strnad is a writer of comic books, cartoons, novels, and short stories. He's worked for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and independent comics (and comix) publishers, and for studios including Disney, Universal, Sony/Columbia and others.
