Two climate movements, one goal - opposing headlines. While Fridays for Future received predominantly positive media coverage, the Last Generation was often confronted with scepticism and delegitimization even in progressive media. Based on an analysis of 96 articles from Der Standard and Falter, the book shows how Austrian left-liberal media portrayed the two protest movements differently. The results reveal a shift in tone from positive to ambivalent, while the media focus shifts from knowledge transfer to conflicts, moralization and questions of legitimacy. This reveals how the media actively shape the public perception of climate protests. The theoretical classification of the results takes Ingolfur Bldorn's socio-diagnostic considerations from his monograph Unsustainability as a starting point, but expands them with its own perspective. A framing analysis is used to examine how the media construct norms and thus influence society's perception of the climate crisis and the need for ecological action. The book thus contributes to the understanding of contemporary climate discourses.
