This box set is the first installment of Steidl's new 15-book series, The Agency, curated and produced by photography fanatics, mavericks and eccentrics. Published in a limited-edition run of 250 numbered copies, this set presents the first three books in the series: John Gossage's An Abridged Dictionary of Sculpture, Jenia Fridlyand's Mango Season and Raymond Meeks' A Commonplace Book.
In An Abridged Dictionary of Sculpture, Gossage (born 1946) considers the changes objects undergo when they are photographed, across over 50 black-and-white images. Jenia Fridlyand (born 1975) presents New Topographics-style photographs of her visits to Cuba in Mango Season. Finally, in A Commonplace Book, Gossage returns as a curator, selecting black-and-white photographs of the American landscape from Meeks' corpus.
