SEOUL FOOD
A Journey from Soul to Seoul Through Food, Family, and Heritage
What happens when Southern soul food meets Korean tradition?
In SEOUL FOOD, Betty Edmonds invites you into her kitchen and shares a delicious collection of recipes inspired by her unique Blasian heritage-a beautiful blend of Black and Korean culture.
Born in Seoul, Korea, Betty moved to America with her mother at just three years old. Growing up in Virginia, she experienced firsthand the challenge of maintaining Korean food traditions in a place where Korean ingredients and stores were nearly impossible to find. As she grew older, her Southern upbringing and Korean heritage naturally became part of the same table.
The result is a cookbook filled with the flavors, memories, and traditions that shaped her life.
Imagine a Thanksgiving table where creamy macaroni and cheese, collard greens, candied yams, fried chicken, and sweet potato pie share the table with sticky rice, kimchi, japchae, Korean ribs, and banchan. In Betty's kitchen, these cultures don't compete-they come together.
Inside SEOUL FOOD, you'll discover approachable recipes ranging from homemade Southern classics, breakfast dishes, desserts, dips, pastas, and comforting family favorites to flavorful Korean dishes that bring the tastes of Seoul into your own kitchen.
Whether you're new to Korean cooking, love Southern food, or simply enjoy discovering new flavors and cultures, these recipes are designed to make cooking approachable, enjoyable, and delicious-even when life is busy.
More than a cookbook, SEOUL FOOD is Betty Edmonds' personal journey from Soul to Seoul, celebrating family, cultural heritage, adaptation, and the powerful way food brings us together.
