This time, she has chosen to write about the teddy bears she began making in 2005, after treatment for cancer, in order to improve the mobility of her right hand. She made the bears herself from scratch, choosing some of her favourite characters from history and legend such as the Taoist philosopher Master Zhuang, the Mongol ruler Genghis Khan, and Beauty and the Beast. The Drunkard is one of the first full-length stream-of-consciousness novels written in Chinese. It has been called the Hong Kong Novel, and was first published in 1962 as a serial in a Hong Kong evening paper. As the unnamed Narrator, a writer at odds with a philistine world, sinks to his drunken nadir, his plight can be seen to represent that of a whole intelligentsia, a whole culture, degraded by the brutal forces of history: the Second Sino-Japanese War and the rampant capitalism of post-war Hong Kong. Van Dyke’s new book, Whampoa and the Canton Trade: Life and Death in a Chinese Port, 1700–1842, authoritatively corrects misconceptions about how the Qing government treated foreigners when it controlled all trade in the Guangzhou port. Van Dyke reappraises the role of Whampoa in the system—a port twenty kilometres away from Guangzhou—and reassesses the government’s attitude towards foreigners, which was much more accommodating than previous research suggested. 由於筆者已經著作和出版了「與觀音的對話」、「與菩薩的對話」和「與文殊菩薩的對話」等這三本書，所以筆者也一定要寫「與普賢菩薩的對話」。 因為學佛不可能一步登天，也不可能一天就可以成就。學佛是需要漸進式的，就是所謂的「次第」，而我就稱之為「學佛四部曲」，有了這四部曲，學佛皆可成就和成道。其第一部曲，就是「與觀音的對話」，學會觀音菩薩的大悲心，所以觀音菩薩又稱之為「大悲」菩薩。第二部曲，就是「與地藏菩薩的對話」，學會地藏菩薩的大願力，所以地藏菩薩又稱之為「大願」菩薩。第三部曲，就是「與文殊菩薩的對話」，學會文殊菩薩的空性的智慧，所以文殊菩薩又稱之為「大智菩薩」，而第四部曲，就是「與普賢菩薩的對話」，學會普賢菩薩的大行，所以普賢菩薩又稱之為「大行」菩薩。 其中的最後一部曲，就是本書所談到的普賢菩薩的37卦。筆者把藏傳所修持的「佛子行37頌」和漢傳的普賢十大願重新用淺顯易懂的文字再加以解釋，讓讀者朋友們用卦象的方式，了解普賢菩薩種種大行的精神。雖然稱之為佛子行37行，其實每一行都是普賢行，佛陀當然在行普賢行，連這四大菩薩也在行普賢行。普賢行是大乘佛教的精神，也是在行菩薩道，即幫助眾生離苦得樂，不為自身的利益，而是為眾生的利益。學會了普賢行，不但可以去掉「我執」或「執取」的念頭，更能培養自己的悲心和智慧，之後才能感就菩薩道。 當讀者朋友在使用這本書時，不但可以占卦，也可以依照這37個普賢卦，逐卦修持自己的心性，並根除自己內心的雜質，同時也能訓練自我察覺力，是否自己的起心動念是真的為了渡化眾生。行走菩薩道，或許對凡夫俗子是件難事，但對一位真正想修持菩薩道的人，並不是很艱難的事，因為他們都知道，只有這37種方法，可以快速讓自己轉念，把逆緣和逆境轉為成道的方法，不僅能逢凶化吉，還能具足自己的功德資糧，既然是一種正法，那你為何不嚐試去做呢？ 筆者並非一名成道之人，但本人經常使用這37卦，讓自己能夠迅速轉念，不再自尋煩惱，老是再造惑業，因為去幫助他人的確是一件很快樂的事。若本書有不盡完善之處，請多見諒，讓筆者有精進的機會。

Proportionality is a German, and thus continental European, concept in public law that is applied by both the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). The principle specifies that measures adopted by executive authorities should not exceed the limits of what is appropriate and necessary in order to achieve legitimate objectives in the interest of the public.
