Developmental social work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaborations and believes it can accurately respond to the issues and the needs of our society. Therefore, more and more non-profit organizations are involved in this field. In Taiwan, the recent social issues, such as the poverty of young adults and the Long-term Care, all indicate a need for fresh thoughts and working methods. Responding to this need, “social innovation” has been seen as a way of developmental social work practice. Since 2015, Eden Social Welfare Foundation has collaborated with the Department of Social Work of National Taiwan University to hold three international conferences regarding developmental social work. We published two conference proceedings Developmental Social Work: Theory and Practice and Developmental Social Work: Advancing Policy and Practice. Psychosis and Schizophrenia in Hong Kong covers some of the most serious mental health conditions that top the global disease burden and affect 3 per cent of the general population. However, most research on psychotic disorders is undertaken in the West, and few studies have been systematically carried out in Asia despite global interest in regional differences. This work offers a unique and coherent account of these disorders and their treatment in Hong Kong over the last thirty years. Chen and his research programme’s pioneering work has ranged from the impact of early intervention on outcomes and relapse prevention, to the renaming of psychosis to reduce stigma. Weaving together interviews with data from periodicals and local archives in Shanghai, Rachel Core examines the rise and fall of TB control in China from the 1950s to the 1990s. The answer to this, Core argues, lies in the socialist work-unit system. Under the work-unit system, the vast majority of people had guaranteed employment, a host of benefits tied to their workplace, and there was little mobility—factors that made the delivery of medical and public health services possible in both urban and rural areas. It examines Chiang’s relationship with his circle of friends and colleagues in the English capital, and assesses the work he produced during his sojourn there. This edited volume, with contributions from eleven distinguished scholars, tells a story of a Chinese intellectual community in London that up to now has been largely overlooked. The Many Faces of Ruan Dacheng: Poet, Playwright, Politician in Seventeenth-Century China is the first monograph in English on a controversial Ming dynasty literary figure. It examines and reassesses the life and work of Ruan Dacheng (1587–1646), a poet, dramatist, and politician in the late Ming period. Ruan Dacheng was in his own time a highly regarded poet, but is best known as a dramatist, and his poetry is now largely unknown. He is most notorious as a ‘treacherous official’ of the Ming–Qing transition, and as a result his literary work—his plays as well as his poetry—has been neglected and undervalued.
