商品簡介
《大學功能口語(上)》內容簡介:Purpose of the book: Functional Spoken English for College Students is a textbook that aims at providing an easier and more practical approach for Chinese college students, who need spoken English skills to express themselves, not only for the purpose of daily communication but also for their academic study and other serious ends.
Principles of the book: This book adopts functional approach in providing input. Different from other functional books that center round daily communicational functions, we approach functions
from Chinese students' specific needs in dealing with study and life. This book also follows Communicative Principles in the design of output tasks. Throughout the textbook, genuine communicative tasks form the core of activities. Considering that a large number of learners who just start to talk would need consolidation exercise, we also include a few drill-oriented activities to ensure that the target expressions and techniques are enhanced.

Most dormitories in the US and the UK are co-ed, meaning boys and girls live in the same building. MIT uses a rather unique method to determine room assignments for incoming freshmen. At the beginning of the orientation week, each student is assigned randomly to a room in his/her pre-determined dorm. Towards the end of the orientation, all freshmen in a dorm will get together and draw a lottery to determine his/her order to pick a room. A student must find his/her own roommates if he/she wants to share a room with others. Usually it's an easy task as friends have been made throughout the orientation week.
There are usually two types of rooms in an MIT dorm: singles and doubles. However, as the size of the student body increases throughout the years, some bigger rooms have been transformed into triples and even quads. I stayed at the Baker House during my senior year, one of the biggest dorms on campus. The prices range from $1800/semester to $2400/semester. There are many sitting areas and workrooms in the building for students to work together. There is also a well-equipped gym for fitness-conscious students. The rooms themselves are usually small, though most of which have a beautiful view of the Charles River as well as the city of Boston. In contrast, my dorm room in Cambridge, UK was huge, with a big French door opening to a well- maintained garden. Superb!
