商品簡介
Twelve international academics and program administrators contribute nine chapters to a text which evolved from a five-year "history and the politics of reconciliation" project at the Carnegie Council for Ethics in International Affairs. Following an overview of how history education can contribute to the process of reconciliation, the text includes nine case studies. Three from Germany, Japan, and Canada consider the challenges of long-term reconciliation in history textbooks. Case studies of Northern Ireland, Spain, and Guatemala offer examples of reconciliation in process. The final three, focusing on the Soviet Empire and the Russian republic, Korea, and India and Pakistan, examine aspirational and counter-reconciliatory situations.
