This is the second of two volumes entitled Investigations of Surfaces and Interfaces . Interfaces involving solid, liquid, or gaseous surfaces are considered. The techniques surveyed range from newly developed methods to those that are achieving a degree of maturity, but are in common use in laboratories primarily concerned with surface studies. Chapters are written by authors who are widely recognized in their fields, and are directed to professional scientists who are interested in obtaining information provided by the technique, but who may not be expert in the use of the method. In each case, the authors supply, either in the text or through liberal reference to the scientific literature, sufficient information for investigators to apply the techniques successfully in the laboratory.
