商品簡介
The notion underlying the volume is that though Lithuanians did not play a significant role in the political history of Jews in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly before World War I, the role they did play should find its modest place in the history of the two peoples, of the region, and of Europe as a whole. Contributors mostly from the Lithuanian Institute of History explore relations between the two ethnic peoples in autonomous Lithuania within the Russian Empire then under German occupation. The topics include Lithuanian Jewry and the Lithuanian National Movement, Lithuanians in Jewish politics of the late imperial period, and Jews and the Vilnius question 1918-25. Three archival documents are also presented. Only names are indexed. Annotation c2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
