Assessment and Learning

Gardner (education, U. of Stirling, UK) unites UK contributors in education, educational assessment, and science education to examine issues of assessment in primary and secondary education. For this second edition, part 1 now contains four new chapters: assessment for learning in the classroom; professional learning as a condition for assessment; scaling up professional development for formative assessment; and alternative perspectives on learning outcomes. Part 2 looks at the impact of assessment in a variety of contexts, including its impact on learners, with chapters on topics such as socio-cultural tensions in vocational education, and the role of assessment in developing motivation for learning.
