Departing from other recent studies of the British queen and the revolt against Rome in AD 60-61, Johnson (classics, U. of Newcastle, Australia) focuses narrowly on the accounts by Tacitus in Annals Book 14 and the Epitome of Dio's Roman History using other literature as auxiliary. In what is essentially textual analysis of the Latin and Greek texts, she focuses on the style, sentiments, vocabulary, and multi-layered meanings. Though she often analyzes in detail meanings and uses of Greek and Latin words and phrases, the quotations themselves are only in English. Distributed in the US by International Publishers Marketing.
