商品簡介
Dagnes (political science, Shippensburg U.) gathers contributors in political science, sociology, criminal justice, communication, and psychology (all affiliated with Shippensburg U.) to examine the social, rhetorical, political, legal, and psychological ramifications of political sex scandals. The contributors propose that sex scandals are a special breed of humiliation, involving more than just politics; these scandals necessitate studies into human communications theory, analysis of media reactions to bad behavior, and examination of the psychology of politicians who risk their careers with illicit behavior and why such men are re-elected. Some chapter topics include the Clinton scandal and American sexuality, the negligible legal consequences for the amoral sexual activity of men in public office, and constitutional qualifications for national public office.
