Camilo Gomez-Rivas, Ph.D. (2009), Yale University, is assistant professor of Mediterranean Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His publications include The Ransom Industry and the Expectation of Refuge on the Western Mediterranean Muslim-Christian Frontier (Oxford University Press, 2014).
