商品簡介
This third and final volume on the artifacts dredged by Edward H. Thompson from the Cenote of Sacrifice (or "Sacred Well") of the ancient Mayas reflects the work of faculty and staff of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology (Harvard U.) over the past 80 years. Chapter 1 is a previously unpublished manuscript by Thompson providing a brief descriptive account of the site and its setting and of the Sacrificial Well. The subsequent chapters and appendices are descriptions and analyses of the materials brought up from the depths of the Cenote: textiles, basketry, stone, bone, shell, ceramics, wood, copal, rubber, other organic materials, and mammalian remains. The volume is beautifully produced, with dozens of b&w figures. Distributed by Harvard U. Press. Annotation copyright Book News, Inc. Portland, Or.
