The author analyzes the content of ABC, CBS, and NBC nightly new programs in order to test Wildavsky's theory that they reflect a bias toward egalitarianism of results. He finds that for most formulations the theory's predictions are supported. Given that Wildavsky's model of American politics as being divided into hierarchy, individualism (as epitomized by Reagan Republicans), and egalitarianism is accepted rather unquestioningly, the results might be considered unsurprising.
