This work reports practices, attitudes, and experiences of football (soccer) fans in Zimbabwe, based on interviews, observations, and focus groups conducted over the past eight years. Emphasis is on football and social identity, football rivalries in Zimbabwe, and football and ethnicity. There is also discussion of female fans’ responses to the patriarchal nature of fandom and the misogynistic songs at the Rufaro Stadium in Zimbabwe.
