Chunhai Fan is Professor and Chief of the Division of Physical Biology at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics (SINAP) and the Center of Bioimaging at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF), China. He obtained his BSc and PhD degrees from the Department of Biochemistry at Nanjing University in 1996 and 2000. After his postdoctoral research at University of California, Santa Barbara, USA, he joined the faculty at Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2004. His research interests are biosensors, bioimaging and DNA nanotechnology. He has published more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals and was recently recognized as Highly Cited Researcher in 2014 by Thomson Reuters.

Zhentang Zhao is Research Professor of accelerator science and technology at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). After receiving his PhD degree from Tsinghua University, Beijing, Zhentang Zhao was working on Beijing Electron and Positron Collider operation and its luminosity upgrading program at CAS-Institute of High Energy Physics from 1990 to 1998. Later he was Deputy Project Director at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) and in charge of the SSRF accelerator design and construction from 1999 to 2009. Since 2010, he is Director of SINAP and SSRF.
