商品簡介
The poems in Crocodiles & Obelisks explore different ways of remembering, with astonishing shifts of perspective and style, of time and place. The collection is stalked by a cast of unreconciled and ghostly presences: Ibn al-Haitham, a tenth-century physicist from Basra, the medieval king Alfonso the Wise, Sir Roger Casement (Irish patriot and activist), the anarchist Piotr Kropotkin, the artists Josef Albers and Hannah Hoch, as well as Gaudi and Piranesi. Several poems are set in prisons, infamous historic sites which evoke the extraordinary renditions of the present.
