The Swedish Green Ribbon is a unique long-distance hiking trail because it is not a trail. It is more of an inspiration to hike 1300-1400 kilometers through the Swedish mountains. You should hike between Gr饘elsj霵 to Treriksr飉et (Three Country Cairn). The route is up to you.
The book describes more than 40 different routes that can be combined for a complete Green Ribbon hike. You can also take your pick of routes and incorporate them into anything from a walk over a weekend, a week, or a month.
The book encourages you to leave the gravel roads for tundra trails and the tundra trails for cross-country travel, to walk on the wild side. The book also contains lots of information on hiking and what gear to use.
Jorgen Johansson has spent most of his life crisscrossing the Swedish mountains. He is a well-known author of backpacking books and a contributor to print and online magazines in both Swedish and English. In Swedish, his book Vandra Fj輐erl酹t is the "bible" of lightweight backpacking, and in English, he is known for the Smarter Backpacking series of books.
