This report first outlines the basic situation of infectious disease prevention and control in the entire African region and describes the history and current situation of the African medical and health system. The report also analyses the characteristics and existing problems of the infectious disease control system in Africa. Then describes the 9 major infectious diseases existing in Africa and take five countries which are Algeria, Guinea, Congo (Kinshasa), Tanzania, and South Africa as examples to analyses the infectious disease control system in different African region. Each country's medical and health system developing history, current situation and characteristics of infectious disease prevention and control, and existing problems in infectious disease prevention and treatment are expounded, then puts forward suggestions for China-Africa medical and health cooperation. The history, content, characteristics and achievements of China-Africa medical and health cooperation are also described here which includes China-Africa cooperation in traditional medicine and infectious disease projects. Finally, the report puts forward suggestions for China-Africa medical and health cooperation including strengthening systematic planning, improving the medical aid system to Africa, encouraging diversified aid force into Africa, improving Africa’s health care system, strengthening traditional medicine cooperation, and comprehensively increasing the influence of medical and health aid to Africa.
